Introducing The Sensor Tower MCP Server

As more and more businesses turn to AI to simplify and optimize processes, companies are constantly finding new ways to work smarter, not harder. In fact, 91% of businesses, with more than fifty employees, use an AI agent within the customer journey, and are increasingly interacting with, and leveraging AI as part of their workflow.

Traditional LLMs crawl the available search tools to provide as accurate an answer to your query as possible. Ask a question, and your AI of choice will mine the available data it can access to give you an answer. But if it doesn’t have the right tool, you’re getting an incomplete or simply wrong answer. Introducing the Sensor Tower MCP (Model Context Protocol) Server. Now, you can easily access Sensor Tower and Pathmatics data directly from your company’s chatbot tool.

What Is It?

Think of the The Sensor Tower MCP server as a bridge, or plug-in to your AI (Claude, ChatGPT, or your custom LLM that works with an MCP server), allowing it to connect directly to Sensor Tower’s App Advertising and App Performance data (with more products rolling out soon) to give you accurate answers to your digital advertising and mobile app performance insights questions.

How It Works

Everything about the MCP Server is meant to make it easier for you to interact with, run analysis, and collect the data and insights you need.

  • You can ask a question in your AI Assistant, with natural language. For example: “What were the top 10 downloaded games in the US last quarter?

  • The AI determines what tool(s) it needs to call, and sends that call to the integrated MCP server

  • The MCP server then validates the request, and translates it to the Sensor Tower API backend

  • The API returns raw data back to the MCP server, which then normalizes the data, or converts it into proper measurement (ie, cents to USD, fractions to percentage, etc)

  • The MCP server then presents the results to you in a clear, readable format

TL;DR - you ask a question about the data you need, and get a coherent, easily digestible response, colored with detail and explanation that highlights why the insight is relevant and useful.

Asking this question without the MCP server produces general information from specific companies that report publicly on a quarterly basis. Sensor Tower’s data gives you the full picture with data on millions of apps, brands, trends, demographics, and more, without the need for public reporting.

Why This is Useful

It’s a valid question. If you already have Sensor Tower and Pathmatics subscriptions, what benefit does the MCP server offer? While our platform is easy to use, sometimes you don’t want to wade through a spreadsheet export, or leave your AI workflow.

While the Sensor Tower platform is packed with insights across multiple products, it could take time to research, analyze, and run reports. For teams without a dedicated data engineering team, the MCP server offers yet another tool that provides access to Sensor Tower’s data in a flexible, simple way. Here are some specific examples for teams:

  • Executives - Easily access clear, high level executive summaries that track market shifts, and see how your company is stacking up against the competition, or where it’s lacking.

  • Ad Sales - Combine your CRM data with Sensor Tower ad data to track prospects, and focus your outbound efforts on those you know have budget

  • Growth Marketing - Track category trends, size new markets, and study competitor creatives, all with one prompt.

  • User Acquisition - Analyze how competitors are flighting ad campaigns, and map against download benchmarks to show the effectiveness of UA strategies.

  • Investors and M&A Teams - Analyze trends and active users to identify which apps are rising or declining, and compare retention of similar apps to spot potential investments.

How You Can Get It

The MCP server is available to anyone with an active Sensor Tower API subscription, allowing access to the datasets you have within the platform. All you need are your current Sensor Tower credentials. Don’t have a subscription? Well, we can help with that too.
